i hate....
...when docs think that you are incompetnat based on NOTHING besides that you are a medical student
i was told today that, with a patients given history, it would be best for me not to intubate him. I INTUBATED THIS PATIENT 48 HOURS BEFORE FOR THIS PATIENTS LIVER TRANSPLANT. it was quick and easy and a good intubation.
or the people who assume that you are just dumb..."well, you will eventually learn how to mask with one hand, for now just do two" ok, well, i have been doing it one handed only, that is the first time i did two handed. it is harder when a patient doesnt have teeth, LET ME GET A FUCKING GOOD GRIP FIRST BEFORE YOU TAKE OVER. oh, and arent you wonderful for assuming i do not know how to do a laryngoscopy and that my patient needs lidocaine before my crap ass intubation. and wouldnt it help if you GAVE ME THE TUBE TO PUT IN. "oh, its just a little blood..." you left me there struggling for so long that of course there was some fidgeting of the laryngoscope. and, when i say "i have a grade one view" i suppose that means "i dont know anything, why dont you look over my shoulder then patronize me"
people who assume that i cant do things without asking or giving me a chance to find out. it is literally one of the three things that make me the maddest in the world. i fucking HATE it.
i also get annoyed when people think that they are going to be your hero and that they are doing you a FAVOR by letting you "try something out" that you have done 5 or 10 times... "yeah, i gave her her first laryngoscopy" why do they assume that? point of fact, you gave me my 11th!

well, for a first, i was not the first one out of poker! i considered this a miraculous feat.
there is a charmed marathon on! i hate that i love this show, and yet, i continue to thoroughly enjoy it.

So E! had this show about entertainers, which has these teams of different people. aparrently one team has two bad singers, a female comedian (who of course is heavy, cause i guess that is the law) a dude who cross dresses and a magician...
it seems like a crappy show, but, who am i to judge.
i work in the psych emergency service tonight, that should be interesting.
one of my patients is driving me nuts, which i think is bad to say. she gets this thick saliva that pools in the corners of her mouth and turns white and it doesnt seem to bother her but it drives me nuts. additionally, she keeps asking me to do things for her, call people, etc...GAA i know it is a part of her disease, but, whatever.
