terri schiavo

so, i think this is a tragic situation really. i just wonder the amount of denial that would be present that you expect a RECOVERY after THIRTEEN YEARS in a persistent vegetative state.

but, whatever, lets not get into that.

the interesting thing on cnn to me...

"We have close to 15 doctors who are on record with the courts saying she can improve and will improve," Bob Schindler told CNN last week. "At best, he (Michael Schiavo) has maybe four, maybe five doctors who have testified that she cannot. So, we have the majority of doctors that are very excited about Terri's recovery."

as though the quantity of doctors is directly proportional to the truth. probably michael hasnt LOOKED for 3x as many docs cause he thinks its stupid!

stuff like this annoys me.

minor victory

i thought myself down off the "ledge" today.

see...my credit card company was wh0ring me, and not giving me rewards...so...after 4 tries w/"customer service" i cancelled the damn thing! i have another one. honestly, i felt uber liberated after that, dont know why.

got a bursar bill for $96 last week, a $56 charge plus a $40 late fee. called bursar. got lady who a) thought *i* was a bitch or b) was a bitch herself. blah blah blah, pissed off, pissed off, pissed off...she removes the $40 late fee, and its just the $56. called UC COM financial aid, they talked me through understanding the charge [for the record, bursar = stupid...dont want to get into it] so now i just owe $56 AND IT MAKES SENSE WHY. since i have no money, i am probably going to not pay it though, and they will just deduct it from my winter quarter money.

speaking of money--went to balance my checkbook. it was all fucked up. about once a year it gets to a point where i sit there and try to figure out where this $50 has come from [its almost always $50....] after going back 4 months and checking i dont know, i nearly cry because i cant even handle a goddamned check book. this time i got mad because i went to pay off the cancelled credit card and there were all these receipts that i have NO clue where they came from, and i dont think that chase ever charged me for them, its confusing, but, im running with it....and blah. so, i did what every sane person does...i made sure that all the checks ive written cleared, all my atm withdraws are accounted for....and went and found a new ledger/ log book, and just started over. i dont think it is the best solution to the problem, however, it will work, and thats what im looking for now.

IM SICK OF SCHOOL

and that about sums it up.

i figured out that--if i can put all my bills on credit card, and if neal helps some, and after the $1000 my parents lent me, i can pay rent through december! WHO THE HELL EVER HEARD OF ASKIN A MEDICAL STUDENT FOR A $715 DEPOSIT ON AN APARTMENT! if you are looking to rent only to med students, how can you possibly RATIONALLY expect that of them?! its NOT OK.

internet in and out. very frusturating. neal and i are considering going ahead and getting our own.

and the princeton review sucks. they just plain suck.

blah.
i know, im a warm, fuzzy, cheery type person.

also, my checks have my old address....anyone have any thoughts on buying new checks or not? im leaning to not. i havent found anythign i like better than what i already have.....

ma mere

so, thursday mom yahoo!'s me and eventually asks why i am not in class. then sites the schedule for things and blah blah blah....she was nagging under the guise of questions. we all knwo that she believes people should all go to class cause it is so helpful. myself--not much of an auditory learner.
so, i call her on it, tell her to stop nagging me and that i can handle it.
and she says "ok, sorry"
for those who know her, im sure saying that i was stunned when this happend, would make sense. that is like she was conceding that it may not be necessary/appropriate for her to nag me about this, when it is "my" money, and i am 23, and can decide whether or not to go to class...

fast forward to about half an hour ago.

talking to mom--i called her after my oto rotation, which was quite interesting (note on that in a bit)....and kind of out of the blue she says something like the following

i am sorry that i am so hard on you, about school and your clothes and things. i'm not like that to beth. i know how frusturating it is, cause my mom was exactly like that too me. she would say "i know youre smart, why arent you getting the highest grades in the class" and things. i do it for the same reasons she does...

this is the first time that she said anything like that to me...so, i did what any normal person would do, cry 8D

i dont really have anything more to say about that now. if you know my mom and my relationship with her, you will kinda get how big this was. if not, whatever, move on.

so, the oto thing.
two interesting occurences.
introductory note: i often volunteer for guinea pig like activities cause a) most people dont want to, and it doesnt bother me and b) i learn that way too

when one guy looked in my mouth and saw that i had a bifed uvula he immediately said 'did you have problems with your ears as a kid' i say 'yea...' and i proceede to be confused. so he goes on to explain that something about the musculature of the soft palate is awry with a bifed uvula and it prevents the eustacian tubes from opening properly and so you get ear infections. HOW COOL. then he asked if i had tubes as a kid, and i did, several times i think...

i also volunteered for the nose/pharynx scope [note to self, dont volunteer for this again, OR request more topical anesthetic] anyway, they are looking around and one of the docs asks if i had my adenoids out the points out to the rest of hte group, a huge scar. it is just FASCINATING the things that you can see now a days.

i dig justin.....

Found out I have Jesus powers. We have a nightlight Jesus in our bathroom. It came in a tacky box; so we can be guided not only to salvation but also to the toilet late at night. Pretty funny. Anyhow, it burnt out earlier today and my roomates couldn't get it to come back on. I tried, and it lit up anew; it's still going.

From this flimsy evidence I have concluded that I am Nightlight Jesus. A minor player in the coming war between good and evil, to be sure, but perhaps my role will in the end by pivotal. You never know. So must start training.

and i respect his conclusion as the only LOGICAL one possible!

sarah, i thought you may find that to be an amusing conclusion, and you could bask in the glow of its logicalness with me 8D

on an ENTIRELY unrelated note.
pub crawl last night.
i was stupid about stuff.
eventually went.
had fun.
saw joe who dated jen last year. made comments with him and jason.
talked to dan a bit, also yesterday afternoon, hopefully he and i will start talking more again.
talked to eric.
got a little more drunk than planned.
got there, saw jessie and jason [with whom i was to meet up] got a malibu and coke. three sips into it, theyre leaving. virtually chug the rest. onto the next bar. see jessie and jason. see eric. get a vodka (orange) and sprite. go to find eric, not there. jessie and jason? not there. flattered by jessica. to next bar with girl named amy who knows who i am because she also went to iu. we graduated the same year. GET TO THIRD BAR. get an amaretto sour. everyone is there to stay, cause its the last bar. have been talkin to one of the mikes [who is kinda cute] a bit this night on and off. to just ruin the suspense and the time line, he eventually says he thinks he and i should make porn of butt sex for money [he didnt put it quite so eloquintely] the part of it that really is intriguing to me, a nearly identical thing happened about a year and a half ago over in bloomington. ah, memories. hang out with people. talk. get a vodka sunrise. won a "bet" with jason and joe [they thought that i could not get them boobies for mardi gras beads. i am victorious! questioning whether or not to drive home. realize that questioning means i shouldnt. joe offers me a ride home--its like 115 or something now--and i go home and go to bed.

my right foot is sore. i cant remember if it was yesterday, but i think it was...really cant say though. realize as i am embarking on a shower this morning that there is a bruise the size of my fist on the front of my ankular region [aka the foot leg junction]

car at school, gotta walk to school, gotta put on clothes.
